Facebook Messenger Responder

To help connect with our supporters and promote our cause


Respond to direct messages from our supporters in a timely and helpful manner


  • Passionate and knowledgeable about environmental issues and XR's objectives
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Familiarity with, and Ability to use Twitter effectively
  • Ability to work mainly independently
  • You'll be expected to work independently, but you will receive training, and you will be able to call on support any time you need it


  • Gain valuable experience in social media moderation
  • Be part of a supportive and passionate team

Additional Information:

  • Answering direct messages from the public and rebels alike.
  • The aim of this role is to encourage positive interaction with XR with a view to attracting supporters
  • Jeremy is our long standing Facebook Messenger Ninja and has done it by himself but he would love some help!
  • Full training is provided and we are a very friendly team with a busy group chat where we can offer each other support regularly.
  • Jeremy answers Facebook messages received through the Extinction Rebellion Global Account.
  • The number of messages can vary wildly so it can take between 30 minutes and a couple of hours to answer all messages received in a day.
  • If we're having a really heavy day, we don't kill ourselves trying to answer all the messages, but the more help we got the more chance we'd have of doing this!

      This is a volunteer position, as such you would be using your own equipment, and would be working from home.

Public Engagement

Location: XR UK (UK Wide)

The Public Engagement Working Group is part of the Media And Messaging Circle. We reply to the public via emails and messages on XR Social Media. We moderate the commenting areas. We signpost people to places inside and outside XR UK. We aim to help people have a positive understanding of XR through positive communication. We maintain safe spaces for online discussions to demonstrate a regenerative culture.
