The key role of any XRUK External Coordinator (EC) is to ensure the team is represented in the broader circle, and is aware of that circle’s work and priorities.
Some of the EC tasks include:
* Representing the mandate of the team within meetings of the broader circle, and asking another member of the team to attend when not available.
* Taking issues that can’t be resolved in the team to the broader circle.
* Exchanging information with other teams.
The Integrated Budget Group (IBG) is the team within XRUK that makes decisions on how XRUK’s money is spent, and distributes income to support XR UK’s strategic objectives in a transparent way which is fair and aligned with XR’s Principles & Values. It is made up of representatives from across XRUK teams, i.e. the Hive, Operations and Systems & Culture.
This is the work to achieve this:
* Decide what expenditure on goods and services is essential to the running and maintenance of the UK-wide movement and allocating budgets accordingly.
* Allocate funds to strategic projects which the Strategy Team has prioritised using the criteria in this document with the budget available after essential costs are met.
* Develop and refine Voluntary Living Expenses (VLE) or Capped Charges for Business (CCFB) guidance to meet the needs of the movement.
* Honour any existing legal and financial commitments of both Extinction Rebellion UK and Compassionate Revolution Limited or its successors, and decide how to do this within available resources.
* Take legal advice where required in order to fulfil this function.
* Ask the Finance team to distribute allocations which the IBG has decided on.
* Review (consider and evaluate) budget proposals from UK circles and groups.
* Make decisions on XR UK budget allocations.
* Produce regular communications outlining decisions, challenges, needs and suggestions, which will be made available.
* Review outcomes from funding decisions to determine if aims were achieved and if money was spent as predicted.
* Administer the income and expenditure of XRUK acting in accordance with financial regulations.
The role can be shared between two people, reducing the time commitment necessary.
An election for the IBG's EC(s) will take place on Thursday 4 September.
