Working closely with UK Media and Messaging's Internal Coordinator(s) and its sub-circle coordinators, the External Coordinator represents the circle throughout the XRUK organism. The External Coordinator ensures information flows between the circle and the rest of the movement. This role works well as a job-share between two people.
External Coordinator core duties
- Representing UK Media & Messaging (M&M) across the movement in meetings, ensuring information is passed between the M&M and the wider movement.
- You will attend regular meetings and ensure someone else from M&M can go in your place if you are unable to attend.
- Ensure the M&M team is kept up to date with what is happening across XR UK.
- Collate and prioritise requests and needs from the wider movement and bring these back to M&M to be handled.
- Work as part of the team that designs public messaging and delivers XRUK’s messaging strategy.
- Coordinate support for the Actions team to collaboratively design non-violent direct actions that align with and enhance our messaging strategy.
- Creating an open, welcoming vibe within the M&M team, that reflects out to the rest of the movement, ensuring the M&M team is seen as approachable and supportive.
- Work side by side with the Internal Coordinator(s) to look after the well-being of the team, set the agenda for the weekly M&M meetings, and ensure the IC(s) are up to date with the work in other circles and campaigns.

Mons: M&M 10:00-12:00 and Ops 14:30-16:30
Tues: Actions 15:00-16:00
Weds: Messaging & Editorial 12:00-13:00
Thurs: Comms 10:00-11:00
Fri: Ops 12:30-13:30 and Actions Carousel 14:00-15:00
Plus ad hoc other hours to suit
What is the process?

- The current External Coordinator will be in touch for a chat about the role and about you.
- Elections for the EC will be held at the weekly M&M meeting on Mon 15th December at 10:00 via Zoom.
- At the elections you will be asked to say a little about yourself, your experience and skills with media and messaging, why you want to do the role and allows team members to ask you questions.
- You and the other candidates will then be popped into a breakout room and the team will cast their vote.
