Our Press team is entering a fresh cycle of energy and action, with big plans unfolding over the coming year. Step into a role where your coordination helps the movement flourish and your work supports XR’s next wave of growth.
Essential skills:
- Organisation skills
- Knowledge of Internal Coordinator duties and responsibilities according to XR's Self-organising System (SOS)
- Good ability to work on Google Docs/equivalent, Sheets, Mailchimp
- Experience coordinating or managing national Press or Media teams

Role Description:
Internal coordinator core duties:
- To be up to date with upcoming relevant events that will need response from the Press Team.
- To monitor the media for stories and developments regarding the Climate and Ecological Emergency and XR, helping planning press work.
- Assist with monitoring the press inbox.
- Keeping a list of group members up to date so it’s clear who is in the group and who isn’t.
- Managing information flow within the group, including who is working on which story and who is available to help with quick turn around reactive pieces.
- Listening to feedback from group members and guiding them into the right role within the group.
- Inducting new team members and making sure they agree with XR’s Ways of Working, our Principles and Values and our Demands.
- Adding new members to any communications platforms as required e.g. Mattermost, UK Comms Hub, Telegram etc.
- Representing the group in the wider circle if the external coordinator can’t.
- Facilitator - Holding meetings on track with the agenda and structured decision making processes.
- Working closely with the Press External Coordinator and the Media and Messaging internal coordinator(s).
Administrative duties:
- Keeping data about the group up to date, including: records of team membership; appointments to roles (with their term); mandates of all roles and sub-circles within the team; group contact details; and any policies the team may create.
Regenerative culture advocate:
- If someone is taking on a lot of work, reminding them that they could pass that work back to the working group.
- Encouraging a regenerative cycle of work moving through the cycle from overview and integrate - planting the seed (first thoughts) - setting intentions and getting to know the group - orientation and logistics - action/focus - understanding/debrief - rest - reflect - back to start.
- Dealing with conflict and tensions, asking for support from the SoS team as and when needed.

Please apply for the role on this platform. The IC of Media & Messaging will get in touch with you and send you the Zoom link for the meeting the next day. You will be asked to introduce yourself, explain why you would like to do the role and how you would like to do it, what you would bring to the team. You and the other candidates will then be put in a breakout room and the team will discuss your application. You will be told the results back in the main meeting.
