Internal Coordinator

Application deadline: Thursday 03 April 2025

Election: Friday 04 April 2025

The Internal Coordinator sets the priorities for the team, based on what is happening in the wider Media & Messaging Circle and around the movement. The IC looks after the team's logistics and organisation as well as the team's wellbeing. You will work closely with the coordinators IC(s) and EC of M&M as well as your fellow M&M subcircles. As a mouthpiece for the movement, you and the EC will work closely with other circles including Actions, Relationships, Creative, Fundraising, Broadcast and Emails, and many more. This role works well as a job share between two people.

FINANCIAL SUPPORT CAN BE AVAILABLE

Internal coordinator core duties:

  • Set the priorities for the team - what needs to be worked on now, what can wait, what doesn't need to be covered by this team.
  • Together with the External Coordinator plan the agenda for the weekly Social Media meeting.
  • Attend the weekly Media & Messaging meeting on Monday mornings if the External Coordinator cannot attend.
  • Facilitator - Holding meetings on track with the agenda and structured decision making processes.
  • Onboarding new team members making sure they agree with XR's Ways of Working, our Principles and Values and our Demands, and taking them through the Social Media Handbook.
  • Liaising with the M&M Internal Coordinators to add new members to any communications platforms as required e.g. Mattermost, Signal, Trello, UK Comms Hub, Telegram etc.
  • Listening to feedback from group members and guiding them into the right role within the group.
  • Some admin duties including keeping records of team membership; appointments to roles (with their term); mandates of all roles within the team; group contact details; and any policies the team may create.
  • Regenerative culture advocate: If someone is taking on a lot of work, reminding them that they could pass that work back to the team.

We ask all people volunteering with Extinction Rebellion UK to:

  • Sign the Rebel Agreement
  • Adhere to our Principles and Values
  • Respect our Regenerative Cultures

Application process:

Please apply for the role on this platform, by the end of Thursday 03 April at the latest. The IC of Social Media will get in touch with you and send you the Zoom link for the meeting the next day. You will be asked to introduce yourself, explain why you would like to do the role and how you would like to do it, what you would bring to the team. You and the other candidates will then be put in a breakout room and the team will discuss your application. You will be told the results back in the main meeting.

Thank you so much for considering taking on a volunteer role with Extinction Rebellion UK!
