London Messaging & Media - Internal Coordinator

The London M&M team has the important role of making the rebellion in London visible through social media and press liaison. This is essential for amplifying the impact of our activity and campaigns, and inspiring people to find their way into activism. The media profile created by the team is the public face of XR London and promotes XR's demands and strategy.

The Internal Coordinator acts as the team lead, setting priorities, supporting the team, and driving the work. Media and press experience is desirable, but more important is your ability to steward the team’s immediate and longer-term priorities, and supporting team members to achieve those priorities.

The key role of the Internal Coordinator (IC) is to ensure the team is healthy and achieving its mandate.

This role will work well as a job share between 2 people.

Some of the IC tasks include:

  • Proposing roles and projects the team needs to fulfil its purpose
  • Supporting the work of role-holders and sub-circles, and reviewing their work at regular intervals.
  • Inviting people with relevant skills and abilities to join the team as required.
  • Maintaining an awareness of what is happening in the wider movement, and communicating regularly with London Coordinators.

Role handover and support

You will have ongoing support from the London Anchor Circle and UK M&M, and initial handover from the previous M&M IC. They will be able to give background and context of the role and shepherd you through the initial stages.

Some financial support in the form of Voluntary living expenses (VLE) may be available for this role and can be discussed on application.

Please consider applying even if you are not sure you fit all the requirements of this job description - we are open to people with enthusiasm and passion to learn.

We ask everyone volunteering with Extinction Rebellion UK to:

  • Sign the rebel agreement
  • Adhere to our principles and values
  • Respect our regenerative cultures
