The XRUK Press team sits in the Media & Messaging Team. The team manages XR UK relationships with journalists and the media (online, print, TV and radio).
We are looking for one or two people to join the team as Press Officer, who can offer 1-2 days per week to:
- Respond to queries to XR UK via the press phone and inbox, including placing and briefing spokespeople for print/radio/TV interviews
- Work with actions teams on press relations for actions (writing press releases, contacting journalists about actions, preparing talking points for spokespeople)
- Liaise with the social media team to align on messaging and publicising of actions
- Work with spokespeople/writers to write opinion pieces to pitch to media
- Build relationships with journalists in the UK and globally to keep them up to date with XR UK‥ activities
Hours can vary, from a couple of hours a week upwards; so as much time as you have would be extremely appreciated.

Comfortable speaking to journalists
Some prior public relations or journalism experience
Familiar with MailChimp and WordPress or willing to learn.
Desired Skills
Experience working in Extinction Rebellion (at the local, regional or national level).
Accessibility considerations
If you're hard of hearing (closed captions can be used during meetings) or visually impaired, then the online meeting aspect may be a barrier. You would need to be able to use a computer/keyboard.
