Meeting Schedule:We meet weekly for 1.5 hours, daytime UTC, attendance is useful but not mandatory.
Essential Skills:Interest in self-organization. Research skills to a general academic level in writing, analysis, methodology, etc.
Desired Skills: Subject knowledge in a field such as anthropology, history, sociology, politics, psychology, economics, etc..

Self-Organizers is an autonomous circle working with XR and other activist groups to build a movement-of-movements. The focus of our work is internationalist, reaching out across the Global South, and North, in support of rebels everywhere, helping them to self-organize.

We are looking for a researcher to work on the development of a research programme investigating approaches to self-organization in different cultural contexts.

The accountabilities of the role be found in the mandate proposal below.

You do not need to be based in the UK and we strongly encourage candidates from any country and of any nationality to apply for this role.

Mandate

Purpose:

Clarity on potential application of self-organizing techniques in activism integrates insights from methods across a variety of cultural contexts.

Accountabilities:

- Identifying and communicating with rebels worldwide who are working to develop and diffuse approaches to self-organising

- Contributing to peer networking and support groups to discuss and co-create approaches to self-organising

- Analysing, understanding and mapping alternative approaches to self-organising

- Assessing potential to integrate alternative approaches to self-organising into the UK SOS to improve it and/or to enhance international coordination with XR groups and other Movement-of-Movements groups
