The Operations [Ops] circle's purpose is that the XR UK 2025-26 Strategy is successfully delivered to its fullest extent. Ops currently comprises of 11 sub-circles.
The SOS Coach role mandate is:
Purpose:
Coordinators (ICs and ECs) across the UK feel confident and supported in filling their roles in line with the SOS and/or self-organising parts of the Principles and Values.
Accountabilities:
We look forward to hearing from you.
SOS Coaching Role Policy:
Meeting Attendance - a member of the Self Organising Systems team in the SOS Coach role regularly attends Hive, Ops and S&C meetings. This will vary depending on the capacity of the SOS Coach role. Capacity allowing, the general expectation is attendance of at least one of the super-circles per week. Ideally if there is capacity, there will be an SOS Coach attending each super-circle meeting at least once a week.
If there is a good reason (e.g. security) the SOS Coach can be asked by the IC of a super-circle not to attend a particular meeting. This should be the exception rather than the rule.
Advice and Decision Making:
The SOS Coach role can offer SOS advice at any time during a meeting if they feel it’s needed or helpful. However the SOS Coach role does not take part in decision making or elections in meetings of super-circles or sub-circles (except within the SOS team itself). The role does not take part in group discussions unless they are SOS related or they are asked to take part by a member of the team for a particular agenda item. If during a governance decision the SOS Coach role sees that the constitution or a policy is being broken, they do have the right of objection on those grounds during governance decisions.
Other Responsibilities:
The SOS Coach role is not expected to take on facilitation or other circle tasks. However, when a trained facilitator is not available they can facilitate a section of a meeting where a governance decision, an election, or a particularly difficult non-governance decision needs to be made, if requested to do so by another team member. The SOS Coach role can also suggest this if they feel it would be helpful.
