Priority role
The XRUK Social Media team is recruiting! The team manages the XRUK social media platforms including Instagram, Facebook, Bluesky and TikTok.
We are looking for volunteers to join our fast-paced and exciting team of people who are responsible for the public-facing aspects of the movement. We cover actions, share work of other organisations and create original content to promote the movement's demands.
Your creative input will help shape the narrative on the climate and nature crises in new and inspiring ways. You will also play a key part in how we present ourselves to our wider Extinction Rebellion supporters, general public and donors.
You will have a lot of freedom with what you can create; a graphic about a local XRUK action, a video about highlighting news from the global south, a post calling attention to news about the Climate and Ecological Emergency or some positive climate news. The choice is yours. The social media team has made some templates which you are free to use, or for people more experienced you can create what your heart desires.
We are looking for people who can help us with:
- Create engaging content (graphics, videos, stories, reels, etc.) from idea to publishing including:
- Fundraising efforts - help get people to donate to our Crowdfunder
- Calls to action
- Building up suspense and energy for our campaign
- Recruiting for actions, back office etc
- News pieces of relevant current affairs
- Amplify the actions of allies in the UK and globally
- Schedule content
- Share relevant and interesting posts
- Engage with our followers in direct messages and comments
- Stay up-to-date with upcoming events, actions and rebellions
- Help build social media strategies
This is a fully remote role and you can work at your own pace. Hours can vary from a couple of hours a week upwards. You need to be reliable and communicative about your availability. We’d love someone with good interpersonal skills who is proactive and ready to contribute. This is both a great opportunity to make a difference and have your insights and input shape the movement. There will be lots of opportunities to learn and meet interesting people.
