The website team is the creative force behind extinctionrebellion.uk, our primary public interface with the world. Having evolved organically over the past five dynamic years, the website is now due for some more transformative work. We're assembling a new website team dedicated to reshaping it into both the bold, public face of XRUK and an efficient pathway for welcoming new activists into our movement.
The Coordinator of the website team is the interface between the team and the rest of the movement. You will have a good idea of what is going on around the movement and a clear vision for the website.
The role could be split into Internal and External coordinators. The time is spread flexibly across week, with some comms required on most days.
The Internal Coordinator directs the priorities of the team to ensure the website is achieving its purpose, which is to present a clear, coherent public face of XR to the world and provide efficient pathways to bring in new people. You will handle all incoming requests for website content and functional changes, translating them into a clear change request for the team and working with the external requestor to finalise the spec.
You’ll need an eye for detail and the ability to publish content consistent with the style of the website. For functional changes, you will need to communicate effectively between technical and non-technical realms.
You’ll have designers, developers and content managers to do the really techy stuff. You don’t need to have any previous experience using WordPress, only an expectation that you will pick up the basic principles quickly.
You will also be responsible for the general admin of the team and the recruitment of new team members as required.
The External Coordinator represents the website team in its parent circle (Media & Messaging) and interfaces with the rest of the movement
There will be plenty of handover and support for this role, from both the outgoing website coordinator and the parent circle coordinators, who have lots of experience with the website and will be working closely with you.

We design, build and maintain the UK Website (rebellion.earth). We also design, build and maintain a "WP-Rebel" WordPress theme for Local Groups to create their own websites and we manage the distribution of it.
