The key responsibility of an internal coordinator is to ensure the smooth working of the team. In our non-hierarchical Self-Organising System (SOS), the IC is not a manager or supervisor and holds no authority, but they do look after the circle’s members and take responsibility for a variety of tasks vital to good team functioning.

Within our regional team these tasks include developing the agenda for circle meetings, inducting new members, and working individually with members to help them develop their own roles and the teams they coordinate.

Person specification: The most important requirement for this role is a deep love for our planet and a commitment to helping Extinction Rebellion achieve its 3 demands through non-violent civil disobedience.

The IC role would suit someone who has good experience working in a collaborative team in any environment, whether that be in a sports club, work environment, or another XR group. We recognise that most people will not have much experience with the XR SOS system and that’s perfectly fine-- we’ll provide lots of support to learn this new way of working.
